The primary objective is simple yet daunting: you must find a way to escape from Granny before five days have passed. You wake up disoriented in a dim room with nothing but a flashlight. According to the legend of this house, Granny is an ever-present threat who is sensitive to every sound. If you drop a book or stumble over a floorboard, Granny will come rushing towards your location with unsettling speed.

Success in Granny requires a masterclass in caution. You must navigate the cluttered rooms and dark hallways with absolute silence. The house is filled with various hiding spots, such as wardrobes or the space beneath old beds, providing a temporary sanctuary when Granny is nearby. However, if she spots you entering a hiding place, your chance of survival drops significantly. To survive the onslaught, players can scavenge for weapons scattered throughout the residence. While these tools won't defeat her permanently, they can stun or slow down Granny, granting you a precious window of time to solve puzzles or locate crucial exit items.

Tailoring the experience to your skill level is easy, as Granny offers five distinct difficulty settings. Beginners may prefer Practice mode, where Granny is absent from the premises, allowing you to explore the house and learn the layout without the fear of pursuit. For veterans, Extreme mode turns the house into a claustrophobic nightmare where speed and precision are mandatory. Throughout the five-day cycle, the atmosphere thickens, and the stakes rise.
